Kindergarten Students Participated in Healthy Living Activities at the Global Institute for Innovation & Leadership

CINCINNATI (4/7/2014) — On April 7, 2014, Standard Textile welcomed 25 kindergarten students from Silverton Paideia Academy to the Global Institute for Innovation & Leadership at the company’s World Headquarters in Reading. The students participated in a 90-minute interactive experience on healthy habits, presented in cooperation with Standard Textile’s partners at TriHealth Corporate Health. The event was part of Standard Textile’s week-long annual Health Fair.

Standard Textile’s partnership with Silverton Paideia Academy, a PreK-6 magnet school within the Cincinnati Public Schools District, extends beyond this event. This school year, in collaboration with Be The Change and United Way of Greater Cincinnati, Standard Textile associates have been volunteering time each week as reading tutors for students at the school.

“We were excited to have the students on-site,” said Connie Retherford, Director, Compensation and Benefits. “The students participated in four different sessions on nutrition and the importance of exercise. We enjoyed sharing our passion for healthy living by hosting this event.”

Standard Textile’s annual Health Fair includes on-site Health Evaluations for associates and spouses who want to participate, including screens for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, liver and kidney disease, anemia, and more. Visitors to the Health Fair meet with local wellness vendors and learn about available health services. All of Standard Textile’s facilities across the U.S. also host their own annual Health Fairs. Standard Textile was recently named one of the 2014 Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America by Healthiest Employers, the leader in employee health analytics, best practices and benchmark data.

The Health Fair and special event with CPS students was held at Standard Textile’s Global Institute for Innovation & Leadership. The facility is designed to be a transformative resource for the world’s textile industry. The Global Institute for Innovation & Leadership offers a flexible, informal environment that is used to drive exploration, discovery and creative solutions.
