While COVID-19 prevented AORN (the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses) from hosting its annual Global Surgical Conference & Expo in-person, the live virtual event for AORN members is available August 7th – August 9th, 2021 and on demand through September 24th, 2021.

Standard Textile is pleased to provide an educational session on-demand as part of the digital event. AORN members may receive two free continuing education contact hours from our seminar:,“The Role of Textiles in Creating a Safer and Healthier Perioperative Environment.”

In addition to our healthcare expertise, we are now proudly committed to serving United States Government Healthcare facilities.  Visit our virtual booth or website to find out more.

Our Program and Factors to Consider

Our educational program focuses on:

  • How to identify the factors to be considered in decisions relating to the use of reusable perioperative textiles in conjunction with disposable perioperative products
  • The importance of boosting sustainability while minimizing the carbon and water footprint
  • How perioperative waste reduction is an effective method for decreasing cost in the perioperative setting
  • The clinical impact on infection control when using reusable items in the perioperative environment
  • Issues related to operating room waste disposal and environmental concern

The Value of Reusables

A strategic supply chain solution, reusable products, including sterile drapes, wrappers, Level 3 OR gowns, Level 4 OR gowns, and Level 1 and 2 isolation gowns can play a critical role in creating a safe, sustainable perioperative environment for the long-term.

At Standard Textile, we restructured our supply chain and manufacturing to support the healthcare industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. We added shifts across our operations, from fabric weaving to cut and sew operations, and have supplied hundreds of thousands of OR gowns and PPE’s to help during the COVID-19 crisis, and will continue to support the industry as the pandemic continues to evolve.

In addition to our partnership with AORN and its membership, we have a team experts, as well as available resources, to help with analysis and implementation of a comprehensive reusable textile program.

The past year has placed an immense amount of stress on the healthcare industry. Standard Textile is proud to support essential workers and is thankful for all they have done and continue to do. Please contact us with any questions or concerns. We are here to assist you with your needs for your perioperative practice.
